So this article ridicules the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, and his attempts to enforce player safety. The writer writes about how the League was becoming to dangerous and how it is strongly considering converting into a non-contact sport; pretty much flag football. The writer over exaggerates the changes happening in the NFL saying that tackling is now banned from the game. Players will now end the play by pulling the flag of the opposing team. It's pretty much the same thing; there will still be passing, running, and kicking. The only difference is that there will be no tackling. Twelve senators even considered bringing up the topic to the senate. Of course, all this isn't real. The writer is simply expressing his/her feelings towards some of the changes in the NFL, and it obviously is not positive. In other words, this article is pretty much a satire, targeting Roger Goodell and the rule changes that don't deserve to be enforced. Now in my opinion, I would be depressed to see the NFL convert into a non-contact sport, and agree that some of these rules can be a little too excessive. However, I still believe that player safety is still important. If the commissioner and even the players want to avoid serious injuries, why not adopt rugby-style tackling. I mean they have far less equipment, but they practice proper techniques of tackling.
