Football Cleats

Personally I believe protecting your feet is one of the key factors in being successful in this game. With a fractured bone in the foot or a sprained foot, the individual player will find himself/herself being very unproductive. With cleats, the players' footwork is enhanced, being able to make sharp cuts with little worry about slipping and the possibility of a serious injury.

Back in the day, players wore either leather shoes or boots. As time went on, steel-toed-boots were being used which protected the players' feet tremendously. Metal cleats were also positioned on the bottom of their shoes/boots, which gave the players more traction to help them on wet fields.

Football shoes have gone through many changes throughout the years. Today, players are often found wearing low-cut cleats as opposed to the ankle-high boots worn in the early years. The shoes have also become so much lighter. Shoes used to weigh more than one pound each (very heavy); nowadays, cleats can weigh as little as 8 oz.

Like I said, cleats are an essential part in player's safety and success. It helps protect the feet of the player, and helps them stay balanced on the field.
